The Department of Population Health at the Dell Medical School is looking for a Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator.

The Unidos Contra el VPH program that supports this position will started on March 1, 2024, and the duration is five years;

however, it is renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward programmatic goals. To work with a multidisciplinary team and community partners to help patients increase screening to reduce the burden of cervical cancer along the US-Mexico border.

This project is among patients at a federally qualified health center (FQHC) located in El Paso, Texas.

Purpose

The Senior Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator will take the lead in reaching out to under screened female patients at a federally qualified health center, providing program overviews, education on HPV self-sampling and cervical cancer screening, and facilitating participation in a research study.

They will coordinate follow-up testing and closely adhere to program protocols, including informed consent and survey administration.

Additionally, they will prepare research packets, enter data into the program database, ensure timely recruitment, and address recruitment barriers in collaboration with project leadership and staff.

Responsibilities

Outreach and Recruitment Skills : Use patient-centered strategies to provide one-on-one brief educational session and explanation of the study and how to effectively take a collection of an HPV sample.

Schedule screening and follow-up appointments.

Service Coordination , Navigation and Direct Service Skills : Connect patients to resources as needed, but not limited to medical homes and social services.

Assist with follow-up appointments and care coordination . O rganiz e and collaborat e with strategic partners.

Individual and Community Assessment, Evaluation, and Research Skills : Administer informed consent and survey instruments;

enter all data in program database; coordinate with team members across various project requirements.

Communication and Organizational Skills : Maintain regular communication with Principal Investigator, all program staff, and community partners .

Utilize written and verbal communication and assist with building a foundation for lon g- term solutions.

Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree : Health education, public health, community health, or related field and 5 years of experience in coordinating or administering a program with community-engaged research, community outreach and engagement, health education delivery, patient navigation, and collaboration with local health care and / or community-based organizations Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of Word, Excel, and database entry.

Working knowledge of data collection and organization. Able to speak, read, and write in English and Spanish. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

5 or more years of demonstrated high-level interpersonal and relationship building skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent community engagement skills. Strong patient-centered mindset in working with internal and external partners. Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment, and coordinate with colleagues at varying organizational levels.

Knowledge of HIPAA / OSHA / ADA / FERPA compliance. Community Health Worker Instructor certification completed. Successful completion of the State of Texas Community Health Worker program.

Salary Range

$54,000+ depending on qualifications
