JOB PURPOSE
To support the vision and mission of Midwestern Seminary and Spurgeon College by creating stunning visual and highly functional solutions for web development projects that creatively communicate our story, while upholding the brand standards and strategic objective of the institution.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage and maintain content, visuals, and functionality for all primary institutional websites.
- Maintain the visual identity of Midwestern Seminary and Spurgeon College by creating web tools that effectively communicate its desired message and supports the overall communication strategies, goals, and brand guidelines of the seminary.
- Build custom web applications and API integrations.
- Produce exceptional conceptual web designs and layouts that focus on UI / UX, Responsiveness, and Information Architecture.
- Contribute to the design discovery processes through brainstorming, creative strategies, and team meetings, while ensuring brand consistency and communication effectiveness.
- Maintain a strong attention to detail from a technical perspective.
- Provide production support for projects, campaigns, and initiatives.
- Work with the Director of Marketing to develop unique landing pages and UTM codes for digital and print advertisement tracking.
- Help maintain Mailchimp through HTML email development and list management.
- Meet weekly with the creative team to discuss projects and brainstorm creative ideas.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will join our team in-house (some remote work may be available), is a self-starter, collaborative at heart and continuously pursues new trends in web technologies and innovative designs while understanding institutional goals and strategy, brand guidelines, creative storytelling, and project parameters.

- Undergraduate degree in web development, communications, or related field preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years web development, UI / UX design, or related field experience preferred.
- Able to solve complex web development problems.
- Must work collaboratively as part of a creative team and as well as independently.
- Expertise in HTML5, CSS3+, LESS, PHP (WordPress preferred), Javascript, API integrations, Server administration, and Database administration.
- A clear understanding of UI / UX principles, mobile-first responsive design, and information architecture.
- Working knowledge of eCommerce systems and integration (Square).
- Able to submit monthly metrics tracking and reporting (SEO, Analytics, etc.).
- Proficiency in Adobe CC Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Acrobat, or other creative and web tools.
- Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of visual identity management and consistency.
- Able to respond professionally to direction, constructive critique, and client feedback.
- Able to prioritize, problem solve, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Must possess a strong attention to detail.
- Must take the initiative to complete the duties of the position without the need of direct supervision.
- Willing to learn and utilize new skills and information to improve job performance and efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A positive attitude.
- Must be able to pass background screening, including driving record.
- Eligible to work in the United States.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 : 30 pm
- Shared office environment
- Some remote work may be available.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequently required to sit or stand for periods of time at desk or computer station.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- Able lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.
