The SME Server Systems Administrator will provide SME IT support to restore services at customer sites through diagnosis, isolation and resolution of systems, software, and network problems.
Education and Experience :
Preferred) Bachelor’s Degree
- 5 to 7+ Years of experience
- Security+ CE (or appropriate DoDM 8570 Baseline Certification)
- IAT Level II certification is required before start
- Public Trust Clearance Tier 3
Responsibilities :
- Perform domain migrations, both internal and external to DHA, to include Active Directory, file services, print services, DHCP, and other commodity IT services
- Resolve a wide range of system issues, troubleshooting software and hardware, diagnosis of network issues, and addressing trouble tickets and service tasks across all tiered levels.
- Assist with achieving optimum performance and availability standards through implementing appropriate technical solutions.
- Responsible for completing the day-to-day tasks associated with system administration in the NMRTC Compute Environment.
- Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems.
- Perform patching, updates, upgrades, refreshes, and other maintenance activities.
- Ensure, manage, and restore backups and snapshots for Windows servers.
- Communicate directly with end-users when necessary, to resolve issues and complete requests.
- Contribute to documentation in the Knowledge Base, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), work instructions, and job aids.
- Continuously cross-train to also support other technical tasks and responsibilities.
- Assist Field Technicians in response to situations where the normal troubleshooting processes have failed to resolve the customer’s problem at Tier 1 or Tier 2 Help Desk support.
- Perform System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and McAfee Enterprise and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Symantec End Point, and ACAS.
- Work with and manage Windows Active Directory, virtual servers, VMware, Citrix, and Windows servers including support of AD migration of accounts and objects.
- Troubleshoot software and applications that fail to function according to software design.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organize and facilitate planning and demonstrations
- Ability to track, manage, and ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner
- Proficient in updating and patching Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022
- Proficient in updating and patching Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)
- Proficient in updating and patching SharePoint Server
- Proficient in updating and patching SCCM / MECM
- Proficient in updating and patching Enterprise Level Servers (HP, Dell)
- Proficient in updating and patching SQL Server
- Proficient in managing virtual machines in VMware
- Proficient in writing scripts in SQL, PowerShell, C#, and .Net
- Knowledge of Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS)
- Knowledge of Symantec End Point
- Knowledge of Adobe
- Proficient in updating and patching Windows 10 and 11
- Knowledge of MS Office 365
- Knowledge of Various other DOD, Navy (GOTS) and Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS) applications
Technical Knowledge
- Experience in VMWare ESXi v6.7 / vCenter, Microsoft Servers 2016 / 2019 / 2022
- Experience with ServiceNOW Ticketing / Global Service Center
- Experience with Citrix
- Experience with Virtual Data Center (NetApp, VMware ESXi)
- Experience with implementing configuration baselines and DoD STIGs
- Experience with patching & configuration (Remedies & Policies)
- Experience with server to server Integration Application
Clearance / Citizenship :
- Public Trust Tier-3
- Must be US Citizen
Travel Requirements :
This position will involve less than 10% travel
