9.2, 12 / 07 / 2022), 5.12 Policy Area 12 Personnel Security. The policy requires national fingerprint-based records checks be conducted prior to granting access to criminal justice information for all personnel who have unescorted access to unencrypted Criminal Justice Information (CJI) or unescorted access to physically security locations or controlled areas (during times of CJI processing).

Employees in this job classification will be subject to a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Interstate Identification Index (III) Fingerprint Background check after receiving a conditional offer of employment.

Additionally, employees in this job classification must complete the required CJIS Security and Privacy Training and pass the online certification test.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is primarily located in the Technology Infrastructure Division of the Information Technology Department within the City of Oklahoma City and is under the direction of an immediate supervisor.

The Systems Support Specialist II is a fully trained practitioner who possesses full functional knowledge of the assigned specialty.

Incumbents support a range of Information Technology programs including Client Support, Network and Communications Infrastructure, Public Safety Communications and Information Security.

Essential job functions include : providing technical support for enterprise hardware components and software; troubleshooting system components;

and implementing new and replacement systems. The Systems Support Specialist II may be responsible for making assignments and functionally supervising the work performance of the Systems Support Specialist I classification.

Work efforts and final products are reviewed at the discretion of the supervisor.

JOB REQUIREMENTS GENERAL

  • Skill in the research and development of feasibility studies for technology solutions.

JOB REQUIREMENTS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SECURITY

  • Skill in conducting security risk assessments and evaluating best practices.
  • Skill in the application of Intrusion Detection System / Intrusion Prevention System (IDS / IPS), penetration and vulnerability testing.
  • Skill in installation and configuration of enterprise level firewalls and related components.
  • Knowledge of enterprise level network topologies.
  • Knowledge of network protocols and packet analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of Security Information and Event Management practices.
  • Knowledge of Privileged Identity Management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Skill in identifying patterns, assessing risks, and experience with security incident analysis, log analysis, and forensic investigations is highly desirable.
  • Skill in implementing and leveraging behavioral analytics platforms to detect anomalous activities, threat hunting, insider threat identification, and overall threat detection capabilities.
  • Knowledge of security operations principles, processes, and best practices. Familiarity with incident response, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and security tooling are essential.
  • Skill in Next-generation firewall concepts, configuration, and administration, including rule creation, IPS integration, and traffic analysis.
  • Skill in developing, implementing, and managing automation solutions and playbooks to streamline departmental processes, boost efficiency, integrate with existing systems, and craft effective automation strategies.

This includes creating and maintaining playbooks, offering training and support for successful adoption, and driving continuous improvement.

WORKING CONDITIONS GENERAL

Strength enough to frequently lift, push, pull or carry computer / network infrastructure components weighing up to 50 lbs.
