I/S Computer Operations Manager

Position Purpose :

Responsible for the management and oversight of the areas of Data Center Operations, Scheduling, Tape Library, and Data Storage Administration within a multi-customer Mainframe computer processing environment.

Provides leadership and direction to staff to meet needs and deadlines ensuring timely deployment of mainframe infrastructure, data processing, customer satisfaction, enterprise-wide effectiveness, and efficiencies of data center technology systems.

Develops, implements, and maintains ISO-based standards and procedures. Consults with management, staff, and the user community to ensure the successful scheduling, execution, and performance of multiple on-line systems.

Responsible for recruiting and hiring, coaching, and mentoring, monitoring and evaluation, and addressing all disciplinary issues in a timely manner.

Encourages staff in creating and maintaining a work environment with high morale and employee satisfaction through support of professional development, training, career growth, and rewarding high performance.

Responsible for managing employees in a data center environment for production and test. (new words) Manages the budgeting and forecasting activities related to Data Center Operations.

Prepares financial analysis and reports. Ensures costs within Data Center Operation cost centers are appropriate and within budgetary guidelines.

Communicates with customers to understand the customer’s vision, needs and requirements. Participate in / gathers / defines solution requirements in an effort to manage and resolve problems.

Reviews specifications and troubleshoots any issues. Functions as a technical and business resource.

• Maintains adequate hardware resources on the floor to support workloads and provide operational scale. Performs asset management by maintaining an accurate and detailed inventory.
• Participates in audits. Functions as a technical and business resource while providing input and recommendations regarding business continuance issues and improvements to the operations of systems and processes supported.
• Responsible for ensuring proper prioritization of workloads for multiple customers and facilitates effective communications between multiple teams.

Evaluates efficiency of operations and develops, maintains, and makes recommendations to standards, work procedures, and the operations of new technologies, where appropriate.

Participates in the analysis and decision-making process related to data center processing.

• Maintains Supply Inventory on the floor to support processing requirements.
• Conducts facility tours.

To Qualify for This Position, You'll Need :

Must be US citizen to obtain required low-level security clearance.

Required Work Education :

• Bachelor's OR,
• 4 years job related work experience OR ,
• Associate's and 2 years job related work experience

Required Work Experience :

• 7 years of job-related IT experience.
• Prior team lead, supervisor, or management experience OR equivalent military experience in grade E4 or above.

Required Skills and Abilities :

• Extensive knowledge of Computing, Storage, and / or Print / Mail Operations.
• Excellent and effective oral / written communication, customer service and time-management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong Negotiation skills.
• Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills.
• Proven ability to deal with uncertainty in a constantly changing environment.

Required Software and Other Tools :

• General Microsoft office suite, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications.
• Standard office equipment; phone, copier, fax, computer, etc.

Prior data center management experience or deployment and management of mainframe hardware.
