Department Summary

This position will work in two departments. Case Management Services (CMS) both prevents risk and promotes students' well-being at UCLA by providing support for those who are in distress or are causing distress among the community.

Students of concern are referred to Case Managers and are empowered to address their needs through receiving guidance on policies and procedures and linkage to campus resources.

Case Managers elevate students at risk for harming themselves or others to appropriate emergency responders and assist with follow up support as needed once the emergency is resolved.

Case Managers serve on and support the work of the Consultation and Response Team, which is UCLA's student behavioral intervention team.

The Center for Accessible Education (CAE) facilitates academic, housing, dining, parking, and transportation accommodations designed to promote equal educational access for UCLA students with qualifying disabilities and provides services and programs for the population of approximately 48,000 UCLA undergraduate and graduate students.

The CAE also supports the mission of Student Affairs to contribute to the teaching, research and public services purposes of the University.

It is a central student service unit within Student Affairs and is the sole UCLA department authorized to determine student eligibility for disability accommodations and services.

In its broadest terms, the CAE is responsible for the administration of UCLA's commitment to ensuring equal access and participation for students with qualifying disabilities.

In carrying out this broad charge, the CAE, in its role as a service provider, values, respects, and encourages the independence of the students that it serves.

At the heart of its mission and charge, the CAE works to ensure that students with disabilities are supported and integrated into the academic and co-curricular activities at UCLA.
