The position of Bilingual Psychotherapist is available in Topeka, KS, and focuses on providing mental health services to Unaccompanied Children in the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) Shelter program.
The role of the Mental Health Clinician is to provide clinical and counseling services, as well as oversee the mental and emotional well-being of the children. Responsibilities :
- Conducting and documenting mental health assessments for assigned cases
- Evaluating and addressing trauma, child abuse, including sexual abuse, and human trafficking
- Identifying and assessing risk of harm to the children or others, and recommending appropriate response
- Contributing to the development of individual service plans for each child
- Providing individual, group, and family therapy sessions
- Ensuring proper oversight of the children's mental and emotional health
- Providing crisis intervention when necessary
- Assessing the need for higher-level mental health care or placement within the ORR program, including referrals for psychological evaluations from external sources
- Coordinating care with case management and medical personnel
- Collaborating with Case Managers, Case Coordinators, and other team members to facilitate the reunification of the children with their parent / sponsor
- Documenting all contact with the children in the designated portal
- Maintaining clinical case file materials in accordance with ORR policies and procedures
- Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with the public, colleagues, employees, and the children
Qualifications :
- Master's degree from an accredited program in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a relevant behavioral science
- Alternatively, a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of clinical employment experience
- Licensure or eligibility for licensure in Kansas as a clinician
- Successful completion of a KBI and CANIS background check
