We are a bioinnovation "incubator", office and laboratory facility located in the heart of New Orleans looking for someone who desires to work independently and be exposed and responsible for all aspects of non-profit finance - financial reporting, grant accounting and reporting, payroll, accounts payable, and even benefits.
The Accounting and Grants Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all financial and accounting operations for our non-profit organization.
This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles and grant management.
The ideal candidate will also have experience working with Quickbooks and a background in non-profit accounting.
What you will do
- Manage all financial and accounting activities for the organization, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger entries
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other accounting standards
- Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Handle all account reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies
- Manage grant funds and track expenses to ensure proper allocation and adherence to grant guidelines
- Prepare and submit financial reports to grant funders
- Assist in budget creation and monitor budget versus actual performance
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation
- Work closely with other departments to provide financial guidance and support
- Develop and implement internal controls and procedures to safeguard financial assets
- Train and supervise accounting staff members, if applicable
What you will need
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a non-profit organization
- Strong understanding of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles
- Proficiency in Quickbooks and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Experience with grant management and reporting preferred
- Familiarity with balance sheet reconciliation and account reconciliation processes
