Position Summary
The Commercial Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing power plant assets and will have a focus on completing daily settlements, day ahead and real time P&L formulation.
This role involves active participation and is responsible for daily portfolio set up in the day ahead and in supporting portfolio monetization in real time operations.
The successful candidate will support the company's interest at the project level to assure maximum profitability and return on investment including participation in the asset schedule and budget processes.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide daily P&L and Portfolio position report; roll up to Monthly P&L.
- Confirm settlement invoices with commercial counterparties (power, gas, gas transport, etc.).
- Produce monthly AMA report
- Produce monthly support of Plant operations and regulatory reporting (e.g., EIG 923).
- Coordinate with EMA manager on daily bidding strategy, hedging (daily and term), fuel, optimization strategies.
- Coordinate with Plant Operations on daily bidding.
- Execute monthly review of budgeted vs actuals for revenue and expenses for each plant.
- Review settlement information and identify areas for improvement.
- Review transmission outages and congestion.
- Perform backcast analysis on portfolio performance and recommend alternative approaches
- Identify premium nodal points for potential sites.
Required Qualifications
- Engineering, business, finance or economics degree or other, related technical field
- At least three (3) years of asset management / commercial dispatch experience.
- Daily financial settlement experience.
- Analytical experience performing backcast analysis to assist the organization in understanding commercial dispatch performance drivers
- Excellent commercial skills and a proven track record in planning, budgeting and financial assessment of power plant assets.
- Analytical data driven experience in assessing problems, identifying drivers and determining solutions / adjustments to address
- Financial / Operational experience in terms of understanding the linkages between daily dispatch and operational constraints as understood in communication with operations and remote operations center
- Organized and systematic approach to tasks requiring a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
- Technical competence (understand software, hardware, networks, etc.) and an ability to optimize a system of managing daily dispatch and P&L formulation that is largely currently spreadsheet based.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills as well as strong presentation skills.
- Must read, write and speak fluent English.
- Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check

Desired Qualifications
- Degree in engineering, Business, Economics and / or Finance.
- Demonstrated experience with strategic planning, budget management, collaborative work initiatives and working effectively with multiple business functions.
- Previous asset management experience.
- Past, prior experience in managing and adapting a business for successful, high growth.
- Preference will be given to candidates with five (5) plus years of experience.
- Valid US passport and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
