Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties.

Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance.

Reporting to the Vice President, Organizational Development and Human Resources, the Director of HR Operations provides HR program leadership that enhances the employee experience of Reynolds faculty, administrative faculty, classified employees, and wage staff.

This includes program leadership in :

Legal compliance and proactivity.

  • Legally compliant HR program administration and reporting.
  • Lead an HR team of two professionals, the Benefits Specialist, and Human Resource Analyst. Provide coaching, guidance and support.
  • Mutual accountability to colleagues, Reynolds leadership, and the HR team, through goals set and met, key performance indicators, integrity, transparency, and honesty in behavior and communications;

and regular reporting of HR metrics.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's / Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in HR best practices, and a progressive HR strategy, including professional talent development, adult learning, continuous improvement;
  • progressive employee relations to support a vibrant college culture; legally compliant within the framework of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS);

competitive pay analysis to ensure pay equity; meaningful rewards and recognition processes to motivate and inspire; and demonstrated people leadership skills to inspire.

  • Experience in the policies, programs, and technology systems of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS), and the Virginia Department of Human Resources Management (DHRM).
  • Program management / project management and facilitation skills. Lean management or TQM highly preferred.
  • HR Analytics skills, including understanding and translating data; meaningful metrics, key performance indicators, dashboards.
  • Proven leadership capabilities. Demonstrated experience leading an HR team of professionals.
  • Demonstrated written / oral communication skills. Presentation skills; PowerPoint skills.
  • Expert in Microsoft Office 365 suite.
