Job Overview
The Auto Liability Claims Assistant Manager contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience by working in conjunction with the Claims Manager to provide leadership to claims business units, focusing on the achievement of key business goals and customer service standards.
This position currently oversees a team of approximately 30 people including 5 supervisors.
Compensation : Depends on experience and varies by location. This position is considered exempt for purposes of wage-hour law.
California Compensation :
The pay range for this position is $99,797 - $149,695 annually, depending on experience.
Colorado Compensation :
The pay range for this position is $90,724 - $142,891 annually, depending on experience.
Nevada Compensation :
The pay range for this position is $95,261 - $142,891 annually, depending on experience.
Washington Compensation :
The pay range for this position is $90,724 - $136,087 annually, depending on experience.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Coordinate and supervise daily activities of a group of claims teams
- Provide guidance and leadership to supervisors, staff and specialists
- Manage service levels by organizing, distributing, monitoring work flow and setting priorities to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity as guided by corporate policies, procedures and business plans
- Conduct or contribute to employee development and employee performance management through coaching and following up on the development of team leader competencies
- Conduct periodic review of claims files and coaches team to strive for continuous improvement and development by setting and tracking individual and team performance objectives
- Provide direction and leadership in areas such as : liability determination, investigation, policy interpretation, settlement negotiations and establishing reserves for claims
- Handle complex or fraudulent cases that require experience and specialist knowledge
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive claims adjusting experience (including bodily injury)
- 3+ years claims adjuster leadership experience
- College / University degree preferred
- Completion of CPCU designation preferred
- Extensive property & casualty knowledge with technical expertise in policy language analysis
- Solid knowledge of policy wordings, corporate guidelines, procedures, and standards related to auto physical damage and property claims
- Demonstrated ability to diffuse tense situations with technical knowledge and resourcefulness sufficient to answer questions and resolve problems
- Demonstrates a commitment to the development team members by providing support, learning opportunities and a positive work environment
- Excellent writing, organizational, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills are required
- Mentors other team members to develop excellent leadership skills
- A continuous learner willing to seek continued professional education and development
