Job Title : Construction Inspector
Job Description
We are currently seeking Construction Inspectors to join our team on the transformative Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel Expansion project.
This is the largest highway construction project in Virginia's history, involving the widening of I-64 and the construction of new twin tunnels across the harbor, with a total budget exceeding $3.
9 billion. As a Construction Inspector, you will perform quality control of roadway and highway construction, ensuring compliance with contract specifications through field soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate testing.
You will start with routine activities and upon demonstrating required skills, you will be eligible for more experienced positions.
This role requires daily recording and reporting, effective communication with the project team, and adherence to safety standards.
Hard Skills
- ACI Certification or VDOT Soils & Aggregates Certification(s)
- Materials testing (nuclear gauge soil and aggregate density)
- Making cylinders for lab delivery
- Reviews and inspects asphalt and concrete roadways and bridge decks
- Reviews and inspects reinforcing steel and forms prior to concrete placement
- Reviews lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations using standard survey and field engineering equipment
- Oversees installation of erosion / siltation controls and highways work zones and traffic control devices
