Sentara Leigh General Hospital is hiring a
RCIS) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist / Interventional Tech ,RCES and Cardiac Invasive Technologist
Sentara Leigh Hospital is the only hospital in the region with a combination of hospital based and ambulatory procedure labs.
Opening in 2024, the new ambulatory procedure center will care for stable outpatient vascular cases in one fixed lab and one minor procedure room.
Cardiac, vascular and interventional radiology patients are cared for in the hospital based procedure labs. Employees have an opportunity to work in both locations, creating an opportunity for increased work life balance.

This is a Full time position with day shift hours located in Norfolk, VA.
This position requires on-call with a 30-minute response time.
Job Requirements
- Education : A graduate of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate academic program in health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing).
- Required : 1-year related experience
- Required 1 of the following Certs : RCIS. RT, RCES
- Required : BLS
- Required : ACLS required within 90 days of hire
Position Overview
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist is a health care professional that, through the utilization of specialized equipment and under the direction of a qualified physician, assists in the performance of cardiac and vascular procedures.
Resulting in an accurate diagnosis and / or optimal treatment of congenital or acquired heart disease while maintaining maximum patient safety and comfort.
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist performs / reviews a baseline patient assessment, evaluates patient response to diagnostic or interventional maneuvers and medications during cardiac catheterization laboratory procedures.
Provides patient care and drug administration commonly used in the cardiac catheterization laboratory as requested and under the direction of a qualified physician.
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist acts as a first assistant during diagnostic and therapeutic catheterization.

Job Summary
- Performs invasive diagnostic, therapeutic, and / or interventional procedures under the direction of a qualified physician : provides patient and family education;
- operates equipment safely; completes department documentation; maintains all equipment to be clean and operational; maintains adequate supply of inventory for performing examinations;
participates in departmental performance improvement activities.
ARRT or RCIS required. 1 year experience in interventional procedures preferred.
