Description

The successful candidate will support faculty research in management science and work under the direct supervision of Wharton faculty members Drs.

Lindsey Cameron and Leandro Pongeluppe on projects for which they have proposed / received funding. Project areas include the gig economy (e.

g., Uber, DoorDash), digital platforms, precarious work, sustainable development goals, stakeholder management, and socio-economic development.

Many projects are international in scope. Faculty will serve as their fellow’s mentor(s) to ensure that the fellow is well prepared to advance into top-tier PhD programs.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Reviewing relevant literature and providing detailed outlines and / or literature reviews
  • Analyzing data requirements and researching data sources
  • Perform comprehensive data cleaning and analysis, ensuring data integrity for quantitative research
  • Scraping data from websites; processing large files with raw data; designing, implementing, merging, and maintaining research databases and database dictionaries
  • Performing statistical and econometric analyses; implementing machine learning algorithms
  • Engage in qualitative research methodologies, including conducting and the analysis of interviews and other qualitative data
  • Preparing supporting materials for faculty research papers such as research reports, graphs, tables, data descriptions, appendices, etc

Independent thinking, a deep understanding of empirical social science research and statistics, and self-motivation are critical for this position.

The ability to work proficiently in most phases of data management and data analytics is essential. This is an excellent position for individuals wishing to learn mixed-methods research as there will be ample opportunity to work with both quantitative and qualitative data from international data sources.

Qualifications :

BA / BS in Management, Business, Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Communications, Data Science and Information Science or related areas with an interest in pursuing a PhD.

Ideal candidates will be have finished their BA within the past five years.

  • Experience with data analysis and computer programming is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with qualitative research methods, including interviews and interview analysis is highly desirable
  • Interest / familiarity in understanding work and economic activities in the Global South.
  • Familiarity with Spanish and / or Portuguese is desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage complex data and prepare academic materials.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Prior experience in an academic or research setting is highly desirable.

$43,919.00 - $55,000.00 Annual Rate

Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
