Summary / Objective
- Prepare and check data for and perform actuarial calculations related to the annual funding, accounting, and compliance requirements for retiree health benefit plans and single / multi-employer health benefit plans.
- Serve as the project manager on actuarial calculations related to the annual funding, accounting, and compliance requirements for retiree health benefit plans and single / multi-employer health benefit plans
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain client relationships, serve as advisor and technical expert
- Communicate with clients, participate in client meetings, present results, and discuss recommendations
- Perform calculations, utilize actuarial programs, and prepare drafts of client deliverables
- OPEB actuarial valuations (both GASB 74 / 75 and ASC 715-60)
- MEWA reports
- Rate calculations and budget projection reports
- Medicare Part D certification report
- Various special project reports
- Consult with clients regarding actuarial results, plan provisions, and actuarial assumptions
- Assist in the training of entry level students
- Leverage tools and resources to provide clients with innovative and effective solutions
- Assist in the development and delivery of quality client communication and deliverables in support of Senior Consultants
- Prepare and manage internal project deadlines
Skills & Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor degree in math, actuarial science, or other related field
- Additional courses in MS Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access), communications and logical analysis
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), attention to detail, and organizational / time management skills
- Ability to cooperate and coordinate tasks with coworkers and clients
- Demonstrated ability to write understandable and effective reports
- 5+ years of OPEB valuation experience
- ASA, or close to attaining
Preferred
- Fully credentialed, or in pursuit of FSA
- ProVal experience a strong plus
- Project management experience
- Strong communication skills, including client consulting and presentations
