Description
The Driver / Youth Care worker will act as a van driver to transport youth to and from program site. This position will also provide support to program activities conducted on-site including food preparation, and assist with daily program set-up.
Responsibilities :
- Act as a van driver to transport youth to and from program site.
- Provide support to program activities conducted on-site including food preparation.
- Assist with daily program set-up.
- Assist with administrative duties as needed.
- Assist with monitoring of youth on program site.
- Provide feedback to service team members (counselor / therapist / instructor / mentor) concerning issues that may be identified during interactions with program participants.
- Participate in Service Plan meetings as warranted.
- Participate in clinical team meetings, staff meetings and trainings, as instructed.
- Maintain accurate up-to-date clinical records as instructed.
- Work with youth and their families as necessary.
- Other duties or activities as assigned by the Program Director.
- Will serve as the maintenance coordinator for the BIPS facility
- Will serve as the safety officer for the BIPS program
Administrative Responsibility :
- Maintain daily log of van usage.
- Prepare case notes as instructed
- Accept other administrative duties to support the viability and growth of the program along with adherence to policies and governing bodies.
- Other duties or activities as assigned by the Program Director.
Skills :
- Knowledge, understanding and experience working with youth, with preferences given to having worked with at-risk youth, substance abuse, trauma and / or mental illness
- Knowledge and understanding of Philadelphias social service system.
- Knowledge of neighborhood and community resources relevant to this population.
- Sensitivity to racial, cultural, economic, and willingness to adopt interventions that work for different groups.
- Understanding of a strengths-based, recovery-oriented approach and a willingness to adopt this approach.
- Knowledge of high-risk youth, family systems, mental health disorders and substance abuse.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to navigate throughout the city comfortably and effectively.
- Comfortable working with adolescent youth (ages 10 to 17).
Experience :
High school diploma and at least 2 years related experience preferred.
Education Requirement :
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of PA Certified Peer Specialist Training preferred.
- Valid drivers license and vehicle required.
Salary :
- Commensurate with education and experience.
- Grade 12
