General Description

  • This position provides administrative oversight to the Division of Science, Engineering, & Math, affording educational opportunities within available resources through the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of an approved system for the provision of credit and non-credit courses that adhere to OSRHE policies and guidelines;
  • oversees all aspects of the unit including the leadership of all Division personnel; manages program and course design and review;
  • addresses student issues; writes proposals and supervises work on grants; tracks and manages the physical state of facilities;
  • communicates and collaborates with other areas of the College; works with other colleges in the state to ensure that OCCC courses and programs are easily transferable;

serves on numerous institutional committees; and interacts with the broader community by serving on boards, attending events on behalf of the College, and networking to expand opportunities and partnerships for OCCC and the SEM Division.

Indirectly supervises all other employees within the SEM Division. Minimum Education / Experience Doctorate in a SEM Division field of study or in a directly related field.

Minimum (7) years of work experience in higher education administration, including faculty administrative oversight.

Minimum (5) years of college / university teaching experience in a SEM Division field of study or in a directly related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge :

Personnel management, supervision, and leadership development principles

Budgetary processes and financial statements

Familiarity with student learning outcomes assessment and how this process relates to program and institution accreditation.

Skills / Abilities :

Planning for Division budget, allocation of Division resources, success of Division programs and initiatives, maintenance of facilities and equipment, and strategic enrollment management.

Networking and relationship-building with community partners, industry leaders, and other stakeholders.

Work in a diverse campus community Physical Demands / Working Conditions PHYSICAL / MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS :

The work is sedentary work which requires the person in this position to occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

This position requires the person to frequently communicate with administration, faculty, staff, students, and others to perform the essential functions of the position;

must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position requires the person to operate a computer, other office machinery and mobile devices to perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.

This position requires the person to judge, observe, and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

Work is performed in a relatively safe, secure, and indoor office setting.

Work is performed during normal office hours and some nights / weekends as needed. Preferred Qualifications Minimum (3) years of experience in leading program instructional design and curriculum development.

Minimum (3) years of experience with program accreditation and with program and course assessment.

Fundraising / grant-writing experience to support higher education initiatives. Required Training Quarterly compliance training as assigned by the institution.

Annual Campus Security Authority (CSA) Training Work Hours Monday through Friday; 8 : 00am to 5 : 00pm, with nights and weekends as needed.

  • Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement) Emphasizes student success, faculty / staff development, and program and faculty / staff support;
  • provides leadership and vision; values the need for collegiality and teamwork with other Deans and all campus areas’ leadership;
  • provides mentoring and long-term strategic planning for the Division; recommends faculty / staff for employment in accordance with approved policies and procedures;

oversees the personnel evaluation process for full-time and part-time faculty / staff; and contributes to an effective institution through the employment, training, evaluation, and support of all SEM Division personnel.

  • Ensures fiscal responsibility in the development and management of Division class schedules, teaching assignments, and resource management in assigned budgets;
  • collaborates with K12 Division leadership to coordinate and support course offerings with secondary school partners and other partnership initiatives;
  • provides leadership and direction to faculty members in the preparation and implementation of instructional plans consistent with approved competencies;
  • supervises the instructional delivery system and provides guidance for continued instructional quality; provides oversight in the development of quality learning materials;

and recommends improvements, if needed, in instructional delivery of education materials and curriculum.

Develops the Division budget with input from faculty and staff; establishes and maintains appropriate accounting procedures;

authorizes expenditures within the approved Division budget; tracks and analyzes student performance, enrollments, and learning outcomes to make informed decisions regarding the status of academic programs and resource management (.

personnel and classroom resources)

Provides management of the Division on a daily basis, including student and faculty issues and required institutional meetings, in alignment with College policy and Faculty Handbook;

monitors physical conditions of classrooms and office facilities and ensures efficient utilization of available space.

  • Represents faculty / staff across all internal departments and to appropriate external agencies, to ensure effective and efficient operations, partnerships, and articulation agreements;
  • provides employees with leadership, information, and training regarding established safety and health procedures and practices in compliance with federal, state, and College requirements;

advises Academic Affairs leadership on significant matters; and supports the achievement of institutional goals.

Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures) Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.

This position has been identified as having significant responsibility for student and campus activities. The individual holding this position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).

CSAs are required to report crimes they become aware of to the Reporting Structure at Oklahoma City Community College. Annual CSA training is required for individuals holding this position.
