Production Lead - Fabrication (Weekend Shift)

The Fabrication Lead is responsible for supporting team members in order to achieve safety, quality and production goals through effective leadership and communication.

This includes the coordination of work through several operations (NC Punch, press brake, weld, powder coat, and assembly) while maintaining a 48 hour turn around on all customer orders.

The fabrication lead is also responsible for hiring, training, addressing employee concerns, and conducting performance appraisals.

The position reports to the department supervisor.

Weekend Shift Hours are Fri - Sun 6 : 00AM - 6 : 30PM. You will receive a $2.50 shift differential for every hour worked.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)

Ensure that the production schedule is followed and direct operations accordingly in order to satisfy the needs of our customers. (40%)

• While performing the supervisory responsibilities required the employee must represent the Company in the utmost professional manner and in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws;
• especially when addressing complaints, resolving problems, and all other supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following : interviewing, hiring, and training of new employees;

planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees. (40%)

Operate equipment as necessary in order to satisfy production demands and needs of the department including forklift, reach truck and pallet jack.

Provide training in proper procedures to team members.Assist employees with set-ups and troubleshooting as necessary. (10%)

Perform quality checks per procedures and post completed Work Orders, ensuring that correct materials, components, quantities, and identification are noted before closing. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too :

• One year certificate from college or technical school; or related experience and / or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Simpson Strong-Tie Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification (will certify at hire).
• One year related manufacturing experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and training.
• One year managing others.
• Safety : Consistently exemplify the highest of safety standards and monitor others to the same standards.
• Attendance : Able to consistently demonstrate reliable, punctual attendance.
• Mathematical Reasoning : Able to apply basic algebraic and geometric concepts. Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimal equivalents.
• Reading Comprehension : Able to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and related correspondence.

Able to write work procedures and instructions.

• Writing : Able to write routine reports, safety bulletins and procedure manuals.
• Technical : Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Simpson computer applications.
• Problem Solving : Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Analysis / Reasoning : Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Speaking : Able to effectively communicate in group settings and one-on-one, with all departments and at all levels within the organization.

Effectively communicate between shifts to ensure departmental goals are achieved.

Leadership : Proven ability to effectively lead by motivating, coaching and mentoring team members. Proven ability to prioritize work and champion change.

Willing to compassionately hold others accountable and to be held accountable.

• Measurements : Able to read a tape measure to 1 / 32 tolerance and to use combination squares to measure angles to + / - 1 degree, micrometers, calipers.
• Tools : Hand and power tools as well as powered industrial equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit.

This role operates large equipment while standing for approximately 8-12 hours, regularly twisting and bending in a repetitive motion.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job may risk exposure to heat and / or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.

This job does not require travel.

This full-time, non-exempt position is located in McKinney, TX.

$27.12 - $43.37 / hour
