Description
POSITION SUMMARY :
The Lead Mechanic effectively maintains and troubleshoots aircraft systems and provides supervision and guidance to assigned personnel in the maintenance of assigned aircraft.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provides personnel work assignments as well as guides, mentors and provides on-the-job instruction or training to the assigned group in related technical information job procedures, safety and general shop and hangar practices.
- Assumes responsibility of the quality and quantity of work produced by their assigned team (crew).
- Coordinates with the Manager and Supervisors to carry out duties in an effective and efficient manner.
- Participates and enforces compliance with housekeeping, tool control and environmental and safety programs.
- Responsible for the maintenance and preventative maintenance of aircraft, components, and equipment.
- Monitors the status of the aircraft in-work and coordinates efforts with the Maintenance Manager and subordinate personnel.
- Assist in researching and requisitioning of aircraft parts and components in determining the serviceability of parts and components in question.
- Reviews aircraft records to ensure that required maintenance has been performed and that all associated documentation has been completed.
- Follows technical data, manuals, regulations, and other maintenance directives as required.
- Determines airworthiness of aircraft and components IAW Federal Aviation Regulations.
- Demonstrates behavior in accordance with company policies and guidelines.
- Demonstrates a high level of focus on customer service and operational awareness.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED certificate. Seven (7) or more years of heavy maintenance experience on large commercial aircraft.
Maintenance experience on corporate aircraft is a plus. Recent aircraft maintenance supervisory / lead experience desired.
LANGUAGE ABILITY :
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals.
Good verbal and written skills and leadership ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
MATH ABILITY :
This position requires the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY :
The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS :
Familiar with Microsoft Office such as Word and Outlook, and ERP systems.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) mechanic license required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and may work inside or outside of maintenance hangar.
The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals;
risk of electrical shock; explosives; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, and talk or hear, stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.
Must be able to use ladders, stands, lifts, etc. and be able to work on all areas of aircraft. Regularly required to pull, bend, push, and lift / carry containers, equipment, etc.
not to exceed 50 pounds. This position requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
