Insight Global is looking for a direct placement Certified Surgical Tech in the Cardiovascular & Thoracic (CVT) surgical room for a large hospital in Portsmouth, VA.
The ideal candidate will hold certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) and, if employed in Virginia, be registered with the Virginia Board of Medicine as a Surgical Assistant.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist in Surgical Procedures : Support surgeons during operative procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and performing other tasks as directed.
- Prepare Operating Room : Set up the OR with necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies before surgery.
- Patient Preparation : Assist in the positioning, draping, and preparation of patients for surgery.
- Maintain Sterility : Follow strict aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment and prevent infections.
- Instrument Handling : Ensure all surgical instruments are accounted for and in proper working condition.
- Post-Operative Care : Help with the application of dressings and the transfer of patients to recovery.
Qualifications :
- 2 years of OR experience
- Certification : Must be a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the NBSTSA.
- Registration : Must be registered with the Virginia Board of Medicine as a Surgical Assistant.
- Education : Associate’s degree in Surgical Technology or a related field.
- BLS (Preferred upon hire, must obtain from an approved source prior to direct patient care)
- ACLS (Preferred upon hire, must obtain within 90 days of start from an approved source)
PLUSSES :
Experience in cardiovascular and thoracic operating room (preferred)
- Relocation up to $5k
- These are all day shift and hours can be flexible (5x8s, 4x10s,etc)
- Some on call required
- Sign on bonus of : $10k
is paid in 2 installments, requires 2 year commitment / claw back)
