JOB DESCRIPTION
The Department of Biology at Pittsburg State University invites applications for an Assistant Instructional Professor of Biology, a limited-term, one-year appointment for academic year 2024-25.
This is a non-tenure earning position.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities will cover general education coursework including multiple sections of Environmental Life Science (BIOL 113, 4 credits) and General Biology, including lecture (BIOL 111, 3 credits) and laboratory components (BIOL 112, 2 credits).
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching, and be skilled in methods of engaged learning and the use of instructional technology particularly for a general education course that serves a broad audience of students.
This is a position with an expected teaching load of 12-credit hours per semester.
Required Education and Experience Time of Hire
Master's Degree or higher in Biology or related fields from an accredited institution.
Experience teaching Biology
Preferred Education and Experience
Ph.D. in Biology or related fields from an accredited institution.
Record of quality teaching Biology in a lecture and laboratory setting
Record of quality teaching for general education coursework to non-Biology majors
Demonstrated substantive and recent professional or academic experience
