Reporting to the Executive Director of Development, Regional Programs, the will be assigned to represent the University in multiple regions including within North Carolina and along the East Coast of the United States.
Coordinating with the University’s overall fundraising program, the Senior Regional Development Officer will maintain and manage a personal portfolio of top prospects to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gifts to support the University.
In addition to geographic assignments, Senior RDOs will also from time-to-time focus on specific programmatic or strategic initiatives.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with related experience.
For positions with responsibility for direct solicitation of gifts and funds, a minimum of 1 year of professional-level, direct solicitation / fundraising experience is required.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Proven, excellent verbal and written communication skills. The skill to motivate and engender the confidence of prospects and donors.
Ability to interact effectively in a comprehensive environment such as a research university setting; and exhibit the highest standards of professionalism and performance as evidenced by collaborative teamwork, initiative, critical thinking, good judgment, consistency of output, timeliness of follow-through and strength of written and verbal communication skills.
Travel and some weekend work are required. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Demonstrated successful principal and major gift fundraising or transferrable experience.
