JOB TITLE : X-Ray Technologist

SUMMARY :

  • The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for operating X-ray and other imaging equipment to produce films or digital images of patient's internal structures, using radiation safety measures and examining them for quality;
  • performing a range of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in order to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis;

developing films, processing images, preparing reports, and maintaining equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures to produce high-quality images to assist physicians with accurate diagnosis of medical issues.
  • Set up imaging equipment and prepare patients for procedures.
  • Protect patients and themselves from radiation exposure by practicing radiation safety.
  • Follow physician's orders and protocols when performing all radiological procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records and reports of all exams performed.
  • Process and develop images in a timely manner for physician review and interpretation.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and report them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and keep equipment in good working condition.
  • Effectively communicate with patients, physicians, and healthcare staff regarding procedures and results.
  • Continuously improve knowledge and skills through ongoing education, training, and professional development activities.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
  • Active ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification and current state licensure.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain professionalism in stressful situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety principles and regulations.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Knowledge of imaging software and electronic medical record systems.
  • Ability to adapt to new and changing technology and procedures.
