Job Description

The Director, Employee Relations will work collaboratively with HR business partners, management, employment lawyers and labor relations professionals in an effort to fairly and satisfactorily resolve employee relations matters including investigations, accommodations requests, and respectful workplace education.

Responsibilities :

  • Conduct thorough and unbiased investigations into complaints, allegations, or incidents related to workplace misconduct and policy violations in a timely manner.
  • Gather and analyze data and evidence through document review, data analysis and interviews to establish the facts related to a particular case.
  • Conduct interviews with complainants, witnesses, and alleged subjects to gather information related to a particular case.
  • Maintain confidentiality throughout the investigation process and handle sensitive data in compliance with NBCUniversal policy.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners, legal partners, labor relations professionals, management, and other stakeholders as necessary throughout each investigation.
  • Document investigation notes, evidence, findings, and other relevant information consistently using NBCUniversal’s approved HR documentation tools.
  • Prepare and present investigation conclusions and recommendations for resolution to Management, legal counsel, and HR business partners.
  • Lead accommodations process for employees seeking adjustments or modifications to their work location, tools, processes, or schedule including engaging in the interactive process as necessary.
  • Partner with management, employment law, medical and HR business partners on evaluating accommodation requests, the interactive process, and any potential accommodation solutions.
  • Conduct, as required, educational sessions on respectful workplace practices.
  • Stay informed about changes in employment law and regulations across multiple jurisdictions, industry trends and best practices and make recommendations for improvement as needed.
  • Track and analyze commonalities in employee concerns, allegations or accommodation requests and highlight to HR Business Partners any perceived trends that may require attention or indicate an opportunity for preventative action.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Legal Studies or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience conducting thorough investigations at scale in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • 8+ years’ experience in HR, Legal or investigatory roles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws and best practices related to investigations.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the demonstrated ability to interview, question, listen, and note take.
  • Capability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in writing clear concise notes and reports.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the capability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously and efficiently.
  • Ability to portray confidence and calm demeanor, even if the face of difficult or contentious conversations with varying levels of employees.

Additional Requirements :

Hybrid : This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.
