The Director of Communications develops strategic, comprehensive, and integrated communication plans to inform external and internal audiences about Adelante Mujeres, its mission, programs, and impact.
The position leads Adelante’s marketing and communications team, ensuring the organization’s mission is compellingly and persuasively communicated across channels.
The Director of Communications is an integral member of the Senior Management Team, leading Adelante’s mission, vision, and values.
The position serves as the point of contact for Adelante staff to implement the organization’s communications infrastructure, strategic communications plan, including organization-wide and program-specific communication strategies.
The Director of Communications advises leadership about optimal communication approaches and serves as the organization's spokesperson for media interactions and crisis communications.
The role is approximately 75% externally focused and 25% internally focused.
The Director of Communications reports to the Director of Strategic Projects. Together they will elevate Adelante's communication practices to ensure cohesive, inclusive, and impactful communications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Communications leads, develops, and executes strategies that :
- Effectively communicate our mission and impact.
- Foster meaningful relationships with stakeholders, funders, partners, and the broader community.
- Enhance brand visibility, promote programs, engage our community, and drive fundraising efforts through impactful storytelling.
- Provide strategic direction for all communication activities for the organization.
- Supervise, develop, and grow the communications and marketing team.

Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in senior communications, marketing, or fundraising roles
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Bilingual in Spanish & English.
The ideal candidate would have the following preferred skills and experience :
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic communication plans
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to serve as a compelling advocate for Adelante’s mission
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience using Salesforce Marketing Cloud is a plus
- A high degree of emotional intelligence, a positive can-do attitude, in addition to wisdom, curiosity, and empathy
- Ability to develop good working relationships with a wide range of people, including excellent verbal and written communication.
- Strong commitment to the mission of the organization, environmental sustainability, employee well-being, and support for immigrant and BIPOC communities.

SALARY & BENEFITS :
- Salary range : depending on qualifications
- Classification : Full-time exempt
- Telework : up to 2 days a week
