Assistant Superintendent-In-Training
Interlachen Country Club is seeking an Assistant-In-Training to help lead our Golf Course and Grounds Team. The Assistant-In-Training (AIT), under the supervision of the golf course superintendent or Senior Assistant golf course superintendent, will develop the knowledge and skills to assist in the management of all golf course maintenance responsibilities through a combination of training, educational opportunities, and hands-on experience.
The AIT is required to report any irregularities in course turf quality to the course superintendent or Senior Assistant. The AIT reports directly to the Director of Golf Course and Grounds (DOGCG) and Course Superintendent. Our goal is to help you establish a strong foundation to build your career in golf course management. Areas of focus in turfgrass management will include personnel management, applications, irrigation, and leadership.

Responsibilities and Expectations
Operations :
- Waters greens, tees and fairways.
- Assists in repairs the irrigation system, pipes and irrigation heads as needed.
- Installs additional heads, lines, valves as required.
- Applies plant protectants with various sprayers in a manner consistent with labeling.
- Works with Tennis Professionals on various tennis court maintenance items including court resurfacing and leveling and irrigation troubleshooting.
- Assists in planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees and fairways; schedules work; and supervises the employees and the use of the equipment.
- Instructs equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment; supervises pesticide applications and / or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment; and supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and in the maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems

Education & Experience :
Possession of a 2-4 year degree or certificate in turf managementMeasurement and execution of maintenance procedures to deliver a high level of golf course playability.Proficiency in computer use, knowledge of Microsoft Office, and other applications as specified by supervisor.Knowledge in the safe mechanical operation and calibration of the following types of equipment :Mechanically pressurized spray equipment
Hand-operated spray equipmentHand-operated rotary spreadersHand-operated drop spreadersUtility tractorsUnderstanding of agronomy, turfgrass science, and the rules of golf.Possession of a valid driver's license.Requires current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator.Attributes

Works average of 45 hours per week in season, 40 hours per week in the offseason.Available for additional scheduling for rotating weekends, special events / tournaments, and evening / weekend snow removal activities.Ability to move heavy objects, minimum of 75 lbs.Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.Salary, Benefits, and Perks
