Fireside Hearth & Home is hiring an Sr. HR Generalist for our Midwest Region which includes our Minneapolis / St. Paul & Madison, WI markets.
This hybrid role (3-4 days a week onsite) will be based out of our Roseville, MN location, with up to 15% travel to other locations within the Midwest Region.
Must have experience working with skilled trades, manufacturing, distribution or field employees.
Fireside Hearth & Home is the leading distributor of hearth products (fireplaces, stoves, inserts and related finishing materials) in North America.
We are a subsidiary of Hearth & Home Technologies - the largest manufacturer of hearth products and an HNI Corporation operating company.
To be successful in your first year in this role, you would be able to :
- Develop relationships with team and position self as a credible HR partner . Spend time building relationships and understanding the business.
- Champion member engagement. Understand process and inspire HR and business leaders to successfully drive action plans to improve member engagement and retain members.
- Lead recruiting activities for select non-exempt positions (customer service, installers, warehouse and partner with talent acquisition on recruiting for exempt positions.
- Understand the Point of View for all of the processes housed by HR (Talent Acquisition, Engagement, Development, Performance Management, Workforce Planning, and Compliance / Risk Management) and effectively execute the right levers to meet business needs.
- Partner with HR and business leaders help resolve immediate member relations issues and common HR related member questions / needs.
- Partner with the other Fireside human resources business partners as well the HR leaders at Corporate to develop strategies and processes to help advance human resources programs to serve the employees at the location.

- Identify member training and development opportunities which will positively impact quality, delivery, and safety metrics.
- Facilitate employee communication across the members
- Demonstrate strong business acumen, leadership capabilities, willingness to be flexible and adaptable, strong customer focus and collaboration, innovation, and analytical proficiency
- Effectively utilize various HR tools & processes to support leadership in managing talent to improve business results
- Actively participate in various process project teams from concept through results to define, measure, create / implement / communicate high-impact solutions, check results / success of solutions, and adjust plans / actions as appropriate
- Implement the organization’s Diversity & Inclusion strategic initiatives including, facilitating knowledge sharing of best practices, communication and training within the business partner group.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using research and judgement that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law and to objectively coach employees and leaders through these situations
- Experience in an Applicant Tracking System, I9 software, Timekeeping System, and HRIS system
- Ability to organize and prioritize work with a strong attention to detail in all work tasks
- Background in FMLA, employment law and other government compliance regulations
- Ability to build relationships with remote client groups and the MCR functional owners
- Ability to keep the big picture in mind while not sacrificing the execution of the details
- Matrix management structure needs to be navigated effectively through good communication in order to be successful
Education and Experience
- 3+ years’ experience in Human Resources in a business partner capacity.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, or a related field preferred
- Experience providing human resources support across a geographically diverse employee group required.
- Must have experience working with skilled trades, manufacturing, distribution or field employees.
- Experience & passion for supporting employees in the skilled trades.

- Master's Degree
- PHR / SPHR / SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP certification.
