Role description :
In this position, you will coordinate and perform technical work related to utility existing locations, adjustments, relocations, and new installations that may be needed in conjunction with transportation projects.
You will oversee multiple utility coordination projects and coordinate with transportation design teams on the locations and potential impacts on utilities.
Role accountabilities :
- Coordinate and track first and second utility submittals and responses.
- Review cost estimates, schedules, prior rights determinations, and agreements for relocation
- Ensure GDOT requirements for Utility Certification are met.
- Lead or facilitate meetings involving utility specific activities.
- Coordinate with the utility personnel within GDOT on utility issues and resolutions.
- Monitor the progress and quality of the utility relocation design and construction activities.
- Ensure compliance with the GDOT utility coordination manuals and guidance on Design Build projects.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among the utility stakeholders.
- Identify and mitigate any utility risks or challenges that may impact the project scope, cost, schedule, and quality.
- Review and understand the utility requirements and specifications in the RFP package, including the MOUs, UAs, and design build documentation for utilities.
- Coordinate with the Design-Build team and the utility owners to develop a comprehensive and realistic Utility Adjustment Schedule (UAS) that aligns with the project design and construction schedule.
- Review and approve the utility relocation design plans and the final relocation plans submitted by the utility owners or the Design-Build team, as per the MOUs.
- Oversee the utility relocation construction activities and ensure quality and safety standards are met.
- Conduct regular utility coordination meetings with the Design-Build team and the utility owners to facilitate communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution.
- Verify and document the completion of utility relocations and obtain as-built plans from the utility owners or the Design-Build team.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to the Design-Build team and the utility owners on any utility related issues or challenges during the DB Administration phases.
Qualifications & Experience :
Required Qualifications :
- Associates or relevant technical degree
- 12 or more years of experience in utility coordination or related fields
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
Key Attributes :
- Thorough understanding of Georgia DOTs Utility Accommodation Policy and Standards
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications :
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Experience with utility coordination on GDOT projects
