Position at CRISTA Senior Living This is a Full-Time position at CRISTA Senior Living in Shoreline, WA.

Compensation : $118,000 - $150,000 per year, DOE

POSITION SUMMARY The Executive Director of Courtyard (AL) and Cristwood Garden (IL) is an integral part of the Senior Living mission of providing joy and purpose to the lives of our residents as well as providing spiritual leadership to our staff.

Coordinate and facilitate the daily operational functions within Assisted Living and Independent Living to ensure high occupancy, financial viability and a safe, comfortable environment for the residents and staff.

Bring creativity, energy, and excellent leadership to the Courtyard and Cristwood Garden team to ensure services and programming are administered in a manner that meets the needs of current and future resident populations.

Ensure open communication with residents, families, staff and regulatory agencies to ensure transparency and resolve issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (General overview and may not include all details of responsibilities) DUTIES

Leadership / Personnel :

  • Establish a work environment that fosters positive communication between leadership and staff.
  • Encourage and empower staff to be creative and accountable for their areas of responsibility.
  • Recruit, select, train, and retain staff.
  • Evaluate staff performance and ensure expectations are met through ongoing conversations and documentation on the performance log.
  • Lead staff spiritually to strengthen their walk with the Lord thru prayers, devotions, etc.
  • Meet with direct reports on a regular basis and provide coaching and mentoring.
  • Handle all employee discipline in collaboration with HR.
  • Enhance staff morale, productivity, and growth through development opportunities, professional, personal, and spiritual.

Administrative :

  • Ensure high standards throughout Assisted Living and Independent Living are maintained, making recommendations for improvement in space and appearance of the facility.
  • Oversee contract process by reviewing and approving prospective resident applications, lease renewals and annual rate changes.

Follow proper notice requirements, evict residents, and impose and collect late fees and other charges as allowable and stated in the terms of the lease.

  • Resolve problems or difficult situations for residents, families, and staff as necessary.
  • Provide ongoing assessment of programs and services offered and evaluate for effectiveness to ensure changes meet and enhance the lives of Courtyard and Cristwood Garden residents.
  • Work cooperatively with CRISTA corporate departments to keep Assisted Living and Independent Living well managed and maintained.
  • Participate in meetings and committees both staff as well as resident.
  • Provide oversight and management of capital improvement projects.
  • Provide oversight for development of clinical strategies in response to the changing healthcare environment and needs of current and future resident populations.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for Courtyard and Cristwood Garden residents and staff.

Regulatory :

  • Provide leadership in preparation for and during annual DSHS survey.
  • Key point of contact with DSHS, DOH, state and local Fire Marshall, and other regulatory agencies in response to questions or concerns and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Engage with appropriate Leading Age Washington committees and / or other industry related affiliations which promote educational opportunities for growth and enhancement.
  • Keep abreast of industry regulations pertaining to state and local fire regulations, Fair Housing Act, ADA and CCRC.
  • Responsible for quality and compliance adherence and efforts (this would include participation or facilitation of safety / emergency committees and workgroups).
  • Participate in resident and management activities / meetings as required.

Resident Relations :

Attend to daily resident relations including resident needs, requests, concerns, and participation in resident committees and groups.

Promote resident satisfaction and retention by responding to complaints, questions, and requests in a timely manner, and taking appropriate action to resolve and address service issues.

  • Interface with residents and families and develop positive relationships with them, including visiting them, praying with them and encouraging them.
  • Maintain good communication and relationships with residents through the Resident Council.
  • Work to solve individual resident problems.
  • Encourage personal and spiritual growth.
  • Participate in resident run committees and meetings as required.

Responsible for meeting assigned budgets and targeted revenues :

  • Provide input into the development of budget(s) for the property by analyzing and evaluating financial statements, reviewing current and projected marketing information, and access operational reports that establish historic and predict performance patterns.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret feedback and current market and economic trends that may impact the property. Work directly with the Sales and Marketing team to support short- and long-range marketing and leasing strategies to achieve the property’s occupancy and revenue goals.
  • Approve invoices from vendors, contractors, and service providers for payment by reconciling work performed or products purchased and managing communication between the vendor / contractor, accounting, as needed.

Financial :

Prepare and manage Assisted Living and Independent Living annual budget to ensure the facility is within budget and budgeted occupancy is maintained.

Complete budget reports as required by the Finance Director.

  • Provide oversight and coaching to key staff to ensure departments are maintained within budget.
  • Ensure contractual obligations of Senior Living are met.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers, seniors and customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Conduct that reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith, Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC) and core values.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : Director of Nurse, Resident Services Manager, Executive Chef Manager, Life Enrichment Lead, Receptionists

  • Provide direct leadership and mentorship to direct reports.
  • Monitor and coach direct reports on budget and staff management in compliance with regulatory requirements and set accountability to meet outcomes.
  • Ensure appropriate training of staff.
  • Establish a work environment that fosters respect and positive communication between management and all staff.
  • Ensure performance is evaluated on a consistent basis for all staff.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS CHRIST CENTERED

daily spiritual rhythms of prayer, fellowship, Bible study, etc).

  • Prayerfully seeks God’s will in their own lives and in their ministry at CRISTA.
  • Engages our ministry including staff and colleagues through prayer, participation in spiritual practices, leading devotionals and other spiritual practices.
  • Affirms, aligns with and supports CRISTA’s Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Statement (CCC).
  • Conducts themselves in a manner which reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
  • Demonstrates the values of a CRISTA leader.

WASHINGTON STATE REQUIRED QULIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Demonstrated ability to work with seniors in a health care environment.
  • Three years of prior work experience with the elderly in a supervisory or management role. A minimum of 2 years of college, bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Current basic FirstAid
  • Criminal record clearance prior to initial presence in the community
  • Current administrator’s certificate
  • Post offer health physical clearance including TB test and drug screen
  • In-depth knowledge and ability to meet state regulations, health laws and OSHA

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent.

Relevant work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

EXPERIENCE

  • Four years management experience.
  • Three years’ experience working in a senior housing environment.
  • Knowledge and expertise with DSHS regulations for Assisted Living.
  • Knowledge and expertise of Fair Housing Act.
  • Knowledge of state and local fire regulations.
  • Experience in policy and procedure development.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION

Assisted Living Administrator per WAC 2530.

SOFTWARE / EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE

Microsoft Office : Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION

Graduate degree in related field.

EXPERIENCE

Working in LTC or a CCRC.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION

Current administrator’s certificate
