Responsibilities

The Procurement Specialist will be a member of a high-performing, strategic sourcing team that identifies and leads complex, cross-functional supply chain optimization and expense reduction initiatives across the enterprise.

Supports the strategic sourcing team throughout the entire sourcing process and manages key procurement reports and data.

Exhibits strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, along with an interest and ability to develop strategic sourcing skills.

Essential Functions and Work Responsibilities

Functional Category : Strategic Sourcing Support

Estimated Percent of time Spent - 100%

  • Support the strategic sourcing team as they manage, identify, and conduct sourcing initiatives (RFX), and provide fact-based recommendations to executive level management
  • Be adaptable and flexible with assignments
  • Optimize / analyze recurring reports for spend, agreements and suppliers
  • Conduct spend analysis and market research on various categories upon request
  • Research, analyze and document business objectives, market supply, and competitive benchmarking in support of a strategic category plan
  • Increase spend under management through supplier compliance analysis and reporting
  • Be able to scale reporting requests in accordance with business need
  • Monitor upcoming contract expirations and proactively correct and maintain reportable data fields
  • Ensure contract or program savings measured, tracked and reported to Finance
  • Manage supplier order guides and other standard templates
  • Track and report supplier-level spend insight by reviewing invoices and obtaining necessary reporting from the supplier
  • Participate in established meetings with business stakeholders to understand strategic direction, business requirements, and objectives / priorities across assigned categories
  • Draft RFX documents
  • Manage supplier onboarding including risk assessments and reference checks
  • Input agreements into contract system and manage throughout the approval process
  • Continuously seek out process improvements and cost savings opportunities, and recommend efforts to realize those opportunities
  • Manage overall supplier performance; act as an escalation point in the event of non-performance
  • Improve supplier relationships and performance by establishing and measuring contracted supplier SLAs

REQUIRED

Education

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college / university in a related field or a combination of education and sourcing / supply chain experience.

Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation

Requires valid state issued driver's license, personal transportation, good driving record and auto insurance as required by law.

Work Experience and Qualifications

Two years of procurement / supply chain experience

PREFERRED

Education

Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation desirable. CPP or CPPM certification is a plus.

Work Experience and Qualifications

  • Health care industry experience
  • Multi-state and multi-site sourcing experience

Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required

Computer Skills

  • Must be computer proficient and possess experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, including pivot tables and basic formulas (IF, VLOOKUP), and Outlook.
  • Must be able to quickly learn specific software and new applications.

Mathematical / Financial Skills

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Able to analyze data and statistics and draw reasonable conclusions and compile accurate reports.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret regulations and other documents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively and tactfully present information to, and communicate with, co-workers, employees, and others.
  • Possess exceptional English written and verbal communication skills, including accurate grammar and business correspondence knowledge.
  • Ability to read and write memos, reports, and correspondence that conform to prescribed style and format.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
