SUMMARY
Teach in a classroom environment thatrequires you to provide information for students to be capable of passing theirState CDL Class B Commercial Drivers Lerner’s Permit Tests for passengercarrying vehicles.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
Teach students the knowledge required to be able to pass all parts of the State CDL Class B permit tests which include the following tests.
General Knowledge, Air Breaks, and Passenger Vehicles
- Monitors attendance and maintains student records
- Provides regular updates and reports to the Director, Transportation Innovation Center on the student’s classroom progress
- Maintains daily training and attendance records, by recording all students’ attendance information in student classroom training records as part of the classroom training records
- Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE / TRAINING
- High School diploma or GED
- Hold a CDL License with a Passenger Endorsement
- Minimum of five years verifiable work experience, which includes driving and or teaching individuals the required information to be able to pass the Ohio State CDL B permit tests.
- Must have a Passenger Bus endorsement
- Previous instructional or teaching experience preferred
- Verifiable clean driving record with no more than two (2) points and / or two (2) moving violations in the previous three years from application date
- No record of Operating Vehicle While Intoxicated (OVI), Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or Reckless Operation convictions
- Must meet the College’s insurability requirements
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screening examination
- No felony convictions within the previous ten years from application date; must be capable of passing Ohio BCI and FBI background checks
- Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team
- Demonstrated experience in a role requiring diverse problem-solving methods in a variety of situations

- Ability to stand and walk a large portion of the work day
- Ability to work a variety of flexible hours during the day
- Possesses a strong working knowledge of the Passenger Vehicle operations and components. working knowledge of transportation concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use in varied situations as it pertains to the training being offered

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / TRAINING
- Associates Degree with at least 5 years of practical experience teaching within the Passenger Vehicle Industry Public / Private Bus Transportation knowledge
- Ohio Department of Public Safety CDL Instructor's license
- Demonstrated completion of Smith System driver safety training
- Completion of the National Safety Council Defensive Driver's Training for Commercial Drivers
