Summary :
CCIGroup is seeking skilled ASL interpreters to join our disasterresponse team providing critical communication support to Deaf andHardofHearing individuals impacted by Hurricane Milton.
You will bedeployed to various settings such as shelters hospitals andcommunity centers to facilitate access to vital informationresources and supportservices.
Responsibilities :
- DeliverASL interpretation in diverse settings to assist communicationbetween Deaf and HardofHearing individuals and relief workersmedical personnel and other serviceproviders.
- Adapt communicationtechniques to meet the needs of individuals who may be experiencingtrauma or stress.
- Maintainconfidentiality and uphold ethical standards forinterpreters.
- Collaborate withrelief teams to ensure culturally sensitive and effective servicedelivery.
Requirements
Qualifications :
- Fluencyin American Sign Language (ASL) andEnglish.
- Experience in interpretingin various settings including crisis or emergencysituations.
- Strong interpersonal andcommunication skills.
- Ability towork independently and as part of a collaborativeteam.
- Sensitivity to the needs ofindividuals affected bydisasters.
Commitment :
- Immediatedeployment to impacted areas acrossFlorida.
- Availability to workextended hours during the disaster relief period asassigned.
Fluency in listed language and English, with excellent verbal andwritten communication skills in both languages. Proven experienceas an interpreter, preferably in a social service, legal, orhealthcare setting.
Understanding the unique needs and challengesfaced by at-risk youth and cultural competency in working withdiverse populations.
Ability to maintain professionalism,composure, and empathy in emotionally charged situations. Strongorganizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability tomanage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Knowledge ofrelevant laws, regulations, and protocols governing the care andprotection of at-risk youth is a plus but not a requirement.
