Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.

The College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience is recruiting a psychiatrist (clinical track) for the department to provide both inpatient and outpatient services to the general psychiatry and addiction psychiatry programs and serve as full-time faculty in this Assistant Professor of Clinical position.

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience is dedicated to high quality medical student and resident education, excellence in patient care, and advancing the science in psychiatry and behavioral neurosciences through clinical trials and ongoing collaborative research.

Essential Functions

  • Provide direct patient care in outpatient and inpatient settings at UC Health facilities and / or other local health care systems.
  • Diagnose and treat patients with mental, emotional and behavioral diseases.
  • Examine patients to provide information on medical conditions; analyze patient medical history, medication allergies, physical condition, and examination results to ascertain the best course of treatment;

prescribe and provide treatment; and provide consultation and assistance to other physicians and surgeons.

  • Clinical teaching activities with medical students, residents, and fellows, consisting of formal and informal lectures and curriculum evaluation.
  • Opportunities to conduct clinical research at various University of Cincinnati and UC Health facilities, hospitals, and other local health care systems.
  • Participation in quality improvement, peer evaluations, and formal mentorship activities within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience.
  • Regularly attending Section / Divisional / Departmental meetings and educational events, as assigned.

Required Education

Prior to the time of appointment, must have obtained an MD or DO degree.

Required Trainings / Certifications

Prior to time of appointment, must have :

  • Ohio Medical License.
  • Completion of a 4-year Psychiatry Residency, and Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
  • Completion of a 1-year Addiction Psychiatry fellowship, and Board Eligible in Addiction Psychiatry.
