Job Title : Senior Purchasing Agent
Pay Range : $31-42 / hour, depending on experience
Objective
This role will be responsible for the purchasing of machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, or services necessary for the operation of a rapidly growing contract manufacturing company heavily involved in Aerospace, Defense, and the Semiconductor Industries.
It will also be responsible for vendor evaluations and negotiations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop subcontract specifications, work statements, and terms and conditions for the procurement of services, specialized materials, and / or equipment
- Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
- Works closely with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
- Coordinates and collaborates with key stakeholders such as contracts, engineering, quality, supplier development, planning, operations, program and end-users
- Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives
- Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable prices.
- Formulate policies and procedures for bid proposals and procurement of goods and services.
- Maintain and review computerized or manual records of purchased items, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories.
- Research and evaluate suppliers, based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
- Identifies strategies and opportunities to reduce cost, improve efficiency and manage risk through strategic and targeted negotiations
- Manages and develops strategic / key suppliers. Reviews and approves supplier payments
- Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
- Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine need for changes.
- Write and review product specifications, maintaining a working technical knowledge of the goods or services to be purchased.
- Monitor changes affecting supply and demand, tracking market conditions, price trends, or futures markets.
- Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations.
Required Experience
- At least 5 years experience in a Purchasing role, in a contract manufacturing environment
- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Proven ability of communicating effectively verbally and in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
- Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Solid understanding of procurement / supply chain principles and terminology
- Basic understanding of ISO 9001 / AS9100
- Experienced with inventory control systems
Preferred Experience
- Associate's degree (A.A.) in Business Management, Business Administration, or a similar field is preferred
- Experience is Aerospace or Semiconductor industries
- Expertise in ISO 9001, AS 9100, and NADCAP
