Responsibilities
Implement and supervise physical exercise programs for patients.
- Provide patient testing and assessment before and after rehabilitation.
- Plan and teach exercise therapy for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen. Monitor patient's response and revise plan accordingly.
- Recognize contraindications and abnormal patient responses to exercise. Respond appropriately to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
- Provide exercise information for patients, peers and the community which may include public speaking and education classes.
- Ensure department equipment is properly maintained, calibrated and functioning correctly. Prepare, develop and maintain various files, records, reports;
schedule patient appointments as required.
Provide oversight to department activities in the absence of the manager.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration :
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Exercise Physiologist specializing in Strength & Conditioning credentialed from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) preferred.
Education :
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Master's degree preferred.
Additional Preferences
- Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science / Physiology or other related Allied health Studies with a minimum of 3 months internship within Cardiac Rehab.
- AACVPR Certified Cardiac Rehab Professional certification or ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification preferred.
- 1+ years of experience preferred
