General Description :
The Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH) is seeking a full-time employee to assist the PDPH STD Control Program with phone interviews for patients recently diagnosed with Gonorrhea.
This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual to gain work experience in a robust large urban health department.
This individual will be working on and offsite as needed.
The STD Information Specialist will conduct interviews using standardized telephone scripts to enhance standard program surveillance.
They will assist with treatment verification via medical providers for individuals diagnosed with Gonorrhea. Other duties include conducting data entry and database searches to obtain current contact information for patients.
While most of the job is conducted via telephone, some travel to medical providers may be required. The candidate will be expected to work independently and as part of a group.
This position is temporary and grant-funded through January 2025. Continuation of funds is based on additional funding.
Organizational Structure / Supervision :
This position will report to designated supervisory and management staff, which may include federal, state, city, and / or contract staff.
Programmatic direction and administrative oversight for all staff within the program is provided by the STD Control Manager.
The STD Control Program receives direction from the Division of Disease Control, PDPH.
Responsibilities :
- Complete STD Surveillance Network (SSuN) enhanced interviews with patients diagnosed with gonorrhea.
- Obtain access to various electronic health records to complete treatment verification for some patients diagnosed with gonorrhea.
- Travel to Public Health Lab and other health providers to retrieve lab results and other health information.
- Complete data entry to the STD Control Information Database.
- Assist in daily surveillance activities.
- Assist with data entry during high school screening.
- Attend training courses to enhance knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Other duties as assigned.

Salary And Benefits :
Salary : $40,000
