Salary Range : $55,000 - $60,000 plus competitive benefits package

The Role

The Union for Reform Judaism’s Greene Family Camp is seeking a dedicated and experienced Food Service Manager to lead our food service operations.

Our camp provides vibrant summer and year-round engagement experiences for a diverse community. As the Food Service Manager, you will oversee all aspects of our food service operations, ensuring high standards of quality, health, safety, and customer service.

You will manage a team of back- and front-of-house professionals from a wide range of backgrounds (People of Color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and other often marginalized groups), with a focus on creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.

What You Will Do

The Food Service Manager reports to the Facilities & Operations Manager and is responsible for the following :

Manage daily food service operations for site rentals and summer camp operations, including menu and meal planning, preparation, and service.

Manage special dietary needs and allergens when applicable. Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations and guidelines.

Implement and monitor food safety practices in compliance with URJ policies and local and federal regulations. Conduct regular inspections and training to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Provide exceptional service to campers, staff, and guests. Address and resolve any food service-related issues or concerns promptly and professionally.

Supervise and support a team of food service staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling. Foster a positive, equitable, and collaborative work environment.

Oversee food service budgeting, including purchasing, inventory management, and cost control. Ensure efficient use of resources and manage expenses within budget constraints.

Submit invoices to the business manager upon receipt for timely payment.

Coordinate food service for summer camp, year-round retreats, and special events, which will include working on weekends.

Onsite living arrangements will be provided during these periods.

Support URJ org-wide priorities.

To be successful in this job, you excel in the following areas :

Food Service Management. Proven experience in food service management, preferably in a camp or similar setting. The ideal candidate is an energetic, passionate, team-minded food service professional with a caring personality who knows how to supervise and manage a kitchen efficiently in a clean and cost-effective manner.

Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.

Communication. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to speak effectively to individuals or large groups from a wide range of backgrounds.

Sense of humor and patience. Basic ability to use and work on a computer, with email and other IT systems.

Collaborate & Connect. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and engage with a wide range of individuals. Thrives on creating and sustaining a climate of inclusion, trust, and productivity.

Hold yourself and others accountable for delivering on commitments on time and within budget. Initiate respectful, open dialogue to resolve issues when expectations are not met.

Educate yourself on the work of the URJ outside of your area. Consider how your work can align with and strengthen others.

Utilize effective time management tools to help with setting and meeting deadlines. Ask for help and support as needed. Maintain regular, open, honest, and respectful communication.

REDI Experience (Racial Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion). Demonstrated experience or willingness to prioritize URJ Racial Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion (i.

e., ableism, LGBTQIA+ Inclusion, antiracism, etc.) priorities. Willingness to seek out voices from diverse backgrounds to build ideas and make decisions.

Prioritize outreach to multi-racial, marginalized communities. Plan and budget through a REDI lens using URJ resources.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Flexibility to work during weekends and stay onsite for retreats as needed. Year-round retreats include a significant number of weekends.

Onsite living can be arranged during the retreat weekends.

In residence at camp during summer camp season.

Ability to do heavy lifting and other physical work

Must be able to become ServSafe, ChokeSaver (CPR), and Allergen Awareness certified within 60 days of employment.
