Registered Nurse RN Surgery First Assistant

Overview Pay range for this position is $39.37 - $56.73 / hour. Actual pay is based on years of licensure. Sign-On Bonus Eligible! $15,000 for RNs with 1+ years of RN experience (external only) Comprehensive benefits package - BCBS Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K with 5% match, and more.

POSITION SUMMARY : The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is a first assistant for surgical procedures. They are responsible for the care of the patient under the direction of the surgeon.

They collaborate with the surgeon and surgical team to create effective patient care plans for our surgical patients. While in the role of RNFA, the RNFA does not function concurrently as the scrub nurse.

The RNFA provides leadership by working cooperatively with all of the medical center staff and works to maintain standards of professional nursing practice.

This position reports to the OR clinical manager. This position will work mainly with the cardiothoracic surgeons. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS : License / Certification / Registration : -Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Illinois, Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR).

RNFA certification within 2 years. -Current American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS(Basic Life Support) CPR or approved equivalent (must include infant through adult, one and two-man rescuer, use of AED, and choking with hands-on CPR skills return demonstration, and must be pre-approved by Org Dev / Human Resources) completed prior to employment.

Experience : 2 years’ experience as an RN Circulator. Successful completion of approved RNFA program that meets the AORN (Association of Operating Room Nurses) recommend education, meets requirements of statues, regulations and institutional policies relevant to RN first assistants’ standards for RN first assistant programs and is accepted by the Certification Board Perioperative Nursing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Education : Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing(BSN) License / Certification / Registration : ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Experience : 2 years’ experience in the OR as an RN Circulator, expertise in multiple specialty areas.
