We are seeking a Construction Quality Assurance Manager to join our Tennessee team! Come join us!

The successful construction quality assurance candidate will act as the "Project Engineer" for Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) design-build project located in Region I near Johnson City and Erwin, Tennessee and will perform on-site project engineering and management duties and responsibilities ensuring compliance with TDOT project agreement, specifications, standards, policies, and required guidance.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Inspects and supervises lower level inspectors performing routine to complex inspections of roadway and structure construction processes and materials to assure compliance with the construction contract and other applicable guidelines.
  • Monitors traffic control and erosion control.
  • Monitors quality assurance sampling and testing.
  • Monitors construction costs, negotiates prices for contract modifications with contractors, and performs other cost controls activities.
  • Writes or supervises the preparation of reports and correspondence.
  • Communicates with contractors, owners, architects, media, general public and other engineers effectively and professionally.
  • Participates in various meetings including concept, plan review, scheduling, and project controls.
  • Monitors project for compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local rules / regulations and client contract provisions.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements :

No less than 10 years of highway transportation infrastructure construction experience as a construction project manager / engineer, superintendent (or functional equivalent), or in a senior construction engineering and inspection role.

Served as a construction project manager / engineer or in a senior construction engineering and inspection role on a least two highway transportation infrastructure projects involving moderate to complex interchange, roadway, and / or bridge construction.

Licensed Professional Engineer preferred.

Technical Requirements :

  • Thorough knowledge of specifications and standards, acceptable construction practices, materials, methods and equipment used in highway construction and engineering.
  • Thorough knowledge of mathematical functions, including algebraic, geometric, and trigonometric calculations related to highway / transportation engineering.
  • Ability to read and comprehend construction plans and all other documents associated with the project.
  • Adept at problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work well with others as a team focused on providing accurate and timely technical services.
  • Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Certification required.
