The Opportunity

The Project Manager for Advanced Power Generation Services will function in a mid-level project manager capacity. You will own multiple services projects encompassing combined cycle, simple cycle, and plant expansion primarily for conventional generation.

There is also potential to own projects in other areas such as hydrogen, bio and waste, and other thermal technologies. In this role, you will have the opportunity to :

  • Provide technical support for client projects with design review services, design engineering services, and development engineering support
  • Support client projects with feasibility studies, energy production estimates, and cost estimates, and testing & commissioning
  • Provide proposal support for client projects with technical specification preparation, RFP support, and bid evaluation support
  • Oversee EPC contractors for client project

Please note : This role has up to 25% travel to project and client sites. When not travelling, this role will be hybrid : 2 days per week remote, 3 days per week in-office.

The Team

Our Sustainable Generation solutions serve our clients to provide study level to full-scale EPC execution for sustainable power generation solutions such as Hydroelectric, Hydrogen and Natural Gas, Bio and Waste, Nuclear, and other thermal technologies.

As a Project Manager you are the execution hub for our clients and project teams, providing leadership and alignment for successful sustainable generation projects.

Our Energy & Process business is driven to meet clients rapidly changing sustainability needs in generation, storage, transmission, and distribution of safe, reliable electric power.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively promote Black and Veatch's safety culture
  • Respond to RFPs and prepare proposals for services work
  • Lead project teams in conceptual design and procurement phases of combined cycle, simple cycle, and plant expansion projects
  • Interface between the client, external stakeholders, and internal stakeholders to ensure project success
  • Work in both a corporate and field environment

Management Responsibilities

Acts as a project manager. Among responsibilities is management of a project team. The individual comprising this team may vary by project.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant industry experience including simple cycle, combined cycle, and plant expansion projects.
  • Experience in multiple phases of project execution
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant degree
  • PE, P.Eng or equivalent professional license

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

  • Hybrid work schedule : 3 days in office and 2 days remote
  • Typical office environment, typical construction environment, extreme weather conditions, high noise level, safety hazards (electric currents, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals), atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation).

Sitting, walking, talking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods of time, lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds.
