Purpose of Position :
This role reports to the Director, Financial Reporting and is responsible for assisting in the preparation of the annual Form 10-K and the quarterly Form 10-Q, including consolidated financial statements, footnote disclosures, and MD&A.
The role is also responsible for conducting research on technical accounting issues, including the monitoring of developments in US GAAP and SEC regulations, assisting Investor Relations in crafting complete and accurate earnings releases and other public materials, coordinating with internal and external auditors during quarterly reviews and year-end audits, and providing assistance on ad hoc projects as required.
This position will interact with personnel from various finance teams and other departments within the organization.
Accountabilities :
- Ensure compliance and timely filing of SEC filings, including preparation of supporting schedules underlying the financial information included in the financial reports.
- Support investor relations, including review and tie-out of materials included in quarterly earnings reports and investor presentations
- Lead the implementation and ongoing monitoring of significant new accounting pronouncements.
- Manage relationships with and assist internal and external auditors related to quarterly reviews and annual audit.
- Complete financial statement analysis in support of MD&A.
- Prepare calculations and other necessary schedules associated with areas such as derivatives and hedge accounting, share-based compensation and earnings per share.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to refine and streamline the financial reporting process.
- Perform accounting research and draft technical memos on an as-needed basis.
- Plus, to have experience with detailed Xtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) tagging of financial statements and footnotes.
- Lead or participate in special projects as needed.
Minimum Skills Required :
- BS degree in accounting or related field required
- CPA or other relevant professional certification is required
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience, including public accounting experience is required
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with SEC reporting tools
- Strong work ethic, collaborative work style, motivated self-starter
- Exceptionally organized and strong at execution, follow-up, and attention to detail
