The WIC Office Assistant 2 position works primarily at the front reception desk, screens applicants for eligibility, makes and reschedules appointments, checks participants in and out of appointments, answers routine questions, documents transactions, issues food benefits, prepares mailings, uses critical thinking to address problems at the front desk, provides back up phone support, works cooperatively with teammates, and provides excellent customer service through each step.

This position will work in the Professional Plaza 102.

As the On-Call Office Assistant 2 your duties may include, but not be limited to :

Phone Support

Assist participants with WIC-related needs over the phone using customer service skills and critical thinking.

Screen participants for eligibility, make and reschedule appointments, and provide referrals.

Use the WIC computer system, document interactions, and communicate with staff.

Collaborate to manage call volume and provide services in a culturally sensitive manner.

Appointment Check-in and Walk-in Services

Welcome participants, determine their WIC visit reason, and verify identification, residency, and income.

Maintain accurate records, document interactions, and answer WIC questions using technology.

Provide rights declaration, voter registration, and food benefits.

Manage clinic forms, answer follow-up questions, and collaborate to manage front desk flow.

Provide community referrals, food benefits, and assistance with food benefit spending.

Offer self-paced lessons and complete reviews of income, residency, and identity.

Process transfer documentation, schedule appointments, and issue WIC ID and eWIC cards.

Provide culturally appropriate and sensitive services.

Program Support

Managing forms and documentation

Utilizing technology effectively

Participating in projects

Attending staff meetings

Providing training and development opportunities

Implementing site rotation programs

Conducting outreach activities

Collaborating with stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications / Transferable Skills* :

Education : equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade; AND

Work Location : This position works onsite at Professional Plaza 102, 131 NE 102nd Ave, Portland, OR 97220.

All County employees have a role in serving the public during inclement weather, natural disaster, or other types of community emergency response.

During these emergency responses, while typically there begins with a call for volunteers, county employees may ultimately be reassigned from their current position to a role in the emergency response in order to support the critical needs presented by our communities.
