Title : CAD Designer Purpose : Coordinate design development with other designers, engineering staff and customers. Develop mechanical designs in accordance with requirements documents.
Prepare CAD drawings and illustrations in accordance with customer format requirements and drawing standards. Responsibilities : Develop and update 3-D and solid CAD / CAE models to assist in the development of equipment arrangement and other mechanical drawings.
- Work from work orders, verbal and written instructions to perform duties. Consult with appropriate individuals as required.
- May visit job sites and make preliminary layouts to check critical design problems, and / or to re-check problem areas.
- Provide drawings that incorporate drafting manual standards and procedures, architectural standards, and other national standards as required.
- Check complex drawings for technical accuracy, errors and completeness.
- Conduct design review of technical documentation and drawings against performance specifications for technical compliance.
- Reviews technical documentation and drawings against as-built equipment for technical accuracy and completeness.
- Apply knowledge of procedures and systems to a broad range of basic issues. May require knowledge of specialized processes or technical skills.
- Maintain files and back-up disks. Run prints for the department.
Minimum Knowledge : Vocational / technical training beyond high school and at least 5 years of job-related experience or equivalent.
Requires CAD software experience. Position may require travel. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
Work Environment : Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech / hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning / organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
