JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS :
Penn State Wilkes-Barre is currently accepting applications for Student Success Services Peer Mentors. SSS Mentors will be responsible for assisting first year SSS students adjust to college life.
This position is available to Federal Work Study eligible students as well.
Applicants must be a current sophomore, junior, or senior SSS student at Penn State Wilkes-Barre to be eligible to apply.
Responsibilities / Duties
Mentors will attend a training workshop to review strategies that have proven useful in working with new students
Complete the necessary paperwork to monitor the progress of first year students as well as paperwork required for the payment of services
Peer Mentors will initiate interaction with their assigned students on a regular basis during the fall semester of the academic year
Mentors will regularly attend workshops and encourage the new students to do the same
Periodic meetings will be held during the fall with the SSS staff
Part-time position beginning fall semester; 6 hours per week for weeks, with possibility of renewal.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 8, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
