Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is seeking an Accountant Technician 1 to manage the fiscal operations of the Pharmacology department.
This position requires a high level of expertise, independent judgment, and initiative. The Accountant Technician will work closely with the Director of Research Operations & Administration, Sr.
Associate Dean of Research, Department Chair, and faculty to manage post-award grant activities, including budgeting, fiscal compliance, effort reporting, forecasting, and departmental accounts.
The Accountant Technician will be responsible for managing grants including federal, state, and private sponsors, as well as state, foundation, and self-supporting accounts, with tasks such as budgeting, forecasting, costing allocations, and reconciliations.
The role also ensures compliance with grant terms and standardizes fiscal processes across the department. This position reports to the Director of Research Operations & Administration.
Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school supplemented by 6 college credits in beginning accounting and two (2) years of financial records maintenance experience which includes such duties as controlling accounts payable / receivable;
preparing financial reports for internal management use; and reconciling complex accounts; OR
Two (2) years of experience as an Accounting Assistant III in Nevada State service which includes 6 college credits in beginning accounting : OR
One (1) year as an Accounting Assistant IV in Nevada State service which includes 6 college credits in beginning accounting : OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above which must have included 6 college credits in beginning accounting.
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 30 (Entry, Step 01 $25.00 / hr Step 03 $27.15 / hr)
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets.
A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
