We are currently seeking an Drive Unit Systems Engineer with key focus in areas of electric motor and powertrain. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination.
Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.
The Role :
- Analyze and harness field data, test data, simulation data, to identify opportunities for product quality improvement in areas of electric motors, transmission, driveline, motor controls, vehicle controls, motor cooling and lubrication
- Drive hardware and software, product and process features and improve existing and future product in terms of performance, NVH, cost, user experience
- Create and execute plans for product improvement working with cross functional teams getting specific stakeholders buy-in on test and execution plans
- Provide inputs to design team / DFMEA teams to feed your learnings back into future product development workstreams
- Develop tools to perform functional analysis, detail trade studies, interface definition studies
- Create and maintain extensive documentation of product specifications, test and data analysis results
- Develop broad systems engineering expertise and deep product knowledge
Qualifications :
- Deep understanding of the fundamentals of electric machines and electric vehicle powertrains
- Passion for product quality improvement in high volume manufacturing environment
- Ability to work cross functionally between hardware, software, test and manufacturing teams
- Excellent communication skills in both technical and non-technical environments.
- Experience in scripting and analyzing large data
- Experience with product failure analysis
- Experience performing or participating in DFMEA for drive systems
- A systems and big picture view of hardware software interactions
- A flair for creative engineering and problem solving.
- A capability to define appropriate targets, using a range of strategies.
- Experience of resolving issues through appropriate analysis and design modification
- 3 to 5 years of experience with powertrain product development, powertrain controls, testing in automotive, aviation, aerospace, or similar industry
- Additional fields of experience (electromagnetics, structural statics / dynamics, material science, vehicle thermal system).
- Experience of electric vehicle drivetrain product design.
- Experience of thermal and mechanical analysis.
- Experience with motor control and power electronics.
- Experience of CAD (and preferably CATIA).
- Experience with MATLAB, Simulink and Python.
- Some knowledge of scripting for simulation process automation.
Education :
- BS (and preferably MS or PhD) in ME / EE discipline.
