DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Maintenance Facility Buildings and Grounds Technician is a skilled position in the construction, maintenance and repair of the interiors and exteriors of buildings and properties.
Work is performed with minimal direct supervision.
- Support manufacturing operations by responding to maintenance calls and completing facility repairs
- Troubleshoot all equipment in a timely manner call for additional support on complex problems
- Enter all work completed in computer-based CMMS maintenance program
- Monitor and report spare parts usage including completing parts order forms
- Performs general carpentry work in the alteration, repair and maintenance of buildings including but not limited to floors, walls, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, locks, windows, screens, fixtures, furniture, interior and exterior painting, drywall repair and replacement
- Perform general indoor janitorial support for the janitorial team.
- Perform outdoor janitorial groundskeeping and maintenance.
- Minor plumbing and HVAC work that does not require a license
- Minor electrical work that does not require a license
- Performs preventive maintenance and inspections of building systems
- Complete light demolition and building / property cleanouts
- Completes routine written and computerized reports on work performed and equipment used
- Assures the maintenance of safe work areas and equipment, promptly corrects work hazards, as necessary. Investigates and reports all work related injuries immediately, complies with all safety rules and attends appropriate safety programs
- Performs related duties and manual labor as assigned
Qualifications
- 18 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
- Basic knowledge in mechanical repairs and troubleshooting techniques
- Proficient in Word and Excel
- Understanding of electrical safety
- Basic understanding of electrical principles such as voltage, current and resistance
- Familiar with electrical measurement devices(voltage meters)
- Ability to use windows based software programs
- Ability to express verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills
- Possess strong work ethic and knowledge of simple troubleshooting.
- Skilled in following directives of more senior level technicians and / or Supervision
- Prefer some level of basic metal fabrication and welding experience
- Knowledge of and experience with proper Lock-Out, Tag-Out procedures
- Flexible and willing to work various maintenance shifts

- Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform heavy physical work with exposure to potentially hazardous conditions
- Will use a variety hand and power tools, may drive a motor vehicle and / or light construction equipment, fork trucks, platform lifts etc.
- Lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 90 pounds and heavier weights with the use of proper equipment and assistance
- Must be able to read printed materials and a computer screen
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use fingers and hands to handle or feel;
reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel; talk and hear
- The employee is frequently required to stand and sit for long periods, as well as occasionally be required to climb or balance
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus
- Exposure to variable temperatures as impacted by the weather
Work Environment
Mainly a manufacturing facility, where exposed to moving mechanical parts, forklifts, heavy pallets, moderate to loud noise level, and air-borne dust, powders, and fumes.
While working, will be required to wear various personal protective equipment (, clothing, gloves, goggles, safety glasses, steel toed shoes, cut resistant aprons, etc.
