Bilingual Production Supervisor - Swing Shift

JOB SUMMARY

This positionassist in the supervision of the production facility to meet sales requirements by supervising production personnel and quality assurance technicians.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Comply with Westlake Safety Policies and Procedures

Regular attendance, timeliness and scheduling flexibility

Leads team members in attaining safety, production and quality goals

Monitor safety programs to eliminate industrial accidents. Holds safety meetings, monitor safety practices and the use of safety equipment.

Ensures appropriate resources (including materials, equipment, and staffing needs) are available to maintain production schedules

Supports continuous improvement processes to ensure that goals in safety, quality, cost, and customer service are met

Creates and maintains an engaged and team oriented work force to improve business results

Supervises production and quality personnel by managing and executing plant processes

Hold regular quality meetings to ensure that all employees are well trained and aware of quality control measures and the quality of the product meets or exceeds Boral standards.

Assist in conducting the formal and informal performance appraisals and hiring new employees

Ensure plant facilities and equipment are maintained to meet production schedules and proactively communicates with maintenance personnel to resolve equipment issues

Ensure that all production personnel are trained by supervising appropriate training programs and discuss with the Plant Manager.

Responsible for implementing and coordinating in conjunction with the Plant Manager Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Process Improvement and Quality Programs.

The position is very hands-on - supervisors are usually in the production area about 80% of the shift

All other duties as requested or assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Excellent communication skills

Computer literate in Excel, Word and Power Point; SAP desirable.

Fast learner, team player and excellent work integrity

Bilingual English / Spanish preferred but not required

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED and AA degree or technical trade school preferred but not required if prior supervisory or lead experience

Prior manufacturing experience in a supervisory or lead role 2+ years preferred

This is an entry level role. Significant training will be required

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to :

Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable

Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out

Prolong standing or in stationary position

Complete repetitive movements

Bend and / or twist

Lift / move / transport items up to 50 pounds

Ability to move or traverse about the facilities

Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions

Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)
