Building Operations Dental Clinic Technician - Student Preclinical Laboratory Support Technician

Primary Purpose Under the general supervision of the Senior Superintendent, performs duties related to general building maintenance, student support and maintenance of all dental and laboratory equipment at the Sacramento Campus. Essential Functions

  • Support Senior Superintendent, students, faculty, preclinical events, projects, requests and work orders.
  • Assess, maintain and repair dental equipment to include simulators, chairs, lights, air compressors, grinding wheels, cavitrons, scalers, torches, hand pieces, plaster traps, sinks;

maintain and repair laboratory fixtures, locks, cabinetry, and lockers

  • Maintain radiology equipment, alcohol supply, polishing lab, bench vacuum systems, medical waste and clean water supply to simulators.
  • Interact with departments and vendors to collect information and share with the team for execution.
  • Enter and maintain records for inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs.
  • Perform daily inspection of facility to ensure readiness for occupant use; coordinate with additional resources to complete necessary adjustments to facility;

report larger issues to Director or Manager as needed.

  • Order and obtain necessary parts and materials required for the efficient operation and maintenance of the dental school according to established policies and procedures.
  • Under the direction of the Senior Superintendent, provide support and coordination for practicals, exams and courses in preclinical spaces.
  • Interact with equipment manufactures and vendors to ensure proper us and reliability of equipment.
  • Perform general building support and facility maintenance to include general work requests and coordination of repairs with university departments and / or vendors.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the facility by picking up trash during shift.
  • Provide coverage for other staff members as directed.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Three (3) years of experience in general building maintenance / repairs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic Microsoft Word, Excel, and building management systems, work order software and event management system.
  • Dental equipment repair experience.
  • General facility maintenance and repairs experience.
  • General fire, life, emergency and safety equipment and procedures experience.
  • Basic computer skills to include email and internet use.
  • Experience using tools associated with general building and dental equipment repairs.
  • Ability to diagnose problems related to the dental school equipment and offer solutions.
  • Keep accurate records and maintain inventory of replacement parts needed for all equipment.
  • Project a professional image, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and communicate in a collegial and professional manner with administrators, faculty, staff, students and public.
  • Utilize building management system and email to communicate and manage work
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Environment / Work Week / Travel :

Work performed during standard business hours.

Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business.

The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record. Hiring Range $22.
