Tennis Specialist

Principal Responsibilities :

To further the mission of Camp Shalom through the development and delivery of tennis activities and programs at the camp.

Deliver tennis activities, including teambuilding, that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers' age and abilities.

Provide the management and inspection to the physical operation and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications :

JOB QUALIFICATIONS :

Education : Minimum 18 years old. Individuals with equivalent work experience and appropriate training may be considered.

Experience : Minimum 1 year training and experience in teaching tennis activities to children of all ages

Licensure : CPR / First Aid for children, EpiPen training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

• Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff
• Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques
• Ability to observe staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate management techniques
• Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the challenge course
• Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers
• Ability to take initiative and direction
• Knowledge and passion to work with children
• Be enthusiastic and creative
• Ability to consistently deliver quality customer service
• Must have the ability to enforce all facility rules and policies in a gentle but firm manner to people of all ages

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

Member Services

• Create a warm, welcoming environment for all
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment for campers, abiding by all camp rules / policies.
• Being able to assist campers in an emergency

Programming

• Develop and deliver a tennis program that is appropriate for the age and ability of the campersWrite lesson plans that meet camp outcomes and the abilities of the campersEvaluate abilities of campers and staffDeliver progressive tennis activitiesEvaluate the success of the music program
• Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational proceduresAssist in the implementation of staff training for tennisTrain other staff in their responsibilities Ensure campers and staff follow safety procedures
• Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment for the tennis programMaintain the tennis equipment including rackets, nets, courts, etc.

Ensure the security of the tennis courts when not in use and ensure tennis facility is off-limits to bystanders when in useConduct daily check of area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repairClean tennis court space daily, keeping it free of hazards and debrisAssist in the planning of any special events

Other Job Duties :

• Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning, and leading those as assigned
• Participate as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights, and other all-camp activities and camp functions
